June is internationally recognised as Pride Month, a time when special attention is given around the world to the rights and inclusion of LGBTI people. To mark the occasion, the LGBTI (rainbow) flag will be displayed at the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia from 2 to 15 June.
One of the core values shared by the Nordic countries is the belief in the equal worth of all people and their right to live in a free and respectful environment. The Nordic Council of Ministers has been committed to promoting the rights and inclusion of LGBTI persons, including initiatives aimed at advancing gender equality. An important role is given to international cooperation in the field of human rights, protection against violence and discrimination, as well as efforts to create a more inclusive educational and working environment.
By marking Pride Month and in anticipation of the Riga Pride 2026 events, the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia will display the rainbow flag from 2 to 15 June as a sign of support for diversity and inclusion. This symbolic gesture reflects the shared values of the Nordic countries and their solidarity with the LGBTI community in Latvia and around the world.
